Downtown and Loose Park Kansas City Engagement Session | Brian & Kay

The whole week before Brian & Kay’s engagement session, it looked like it was going to rain in Kansas City that day. But by a stroke of luck, it ended up being a gorgeous, sunny day. We were SO thankful because these two flew in from Tacoma, Washington where they live so it would have been a bit complicated to reschedule 😉 We started at Loose Park just South of the Country Club Plaza and finished with a view of the Power & Light District downtown (the intersection of Main Street and Truman has become one of my very favorite locations just after the sun goes behind the buildings!).

It’s connections like these that make the world feel a little bit smaller and more intimate. Someone I knew in high school (in Colorado) lives in Kansas City now and she happen’s to be a bridesmaid in Kay’s wedding. When Kay asked her if she knew any wedding photographers in the area, she kindly gave them my name because she has followed my work on social media. These two are getting married in Lawrence this November with their reception at the Cider Gallery!

They got engaged on the top of a mountain in Yosemite National Park at sunrise and she was eating a muffin when he popped the question. For those two reasons alone, I knew we would be fast friends 😀
