For portrait sessions I promise photos to be returned within one week. Often it is only a few days, but I like to be on the safe side since I am busier some weeks than I am others.
For weddings I promise the return of all photos within 5 weeks. Again, it is typically more like 3 weeks, but I want to be sure to maintain a healthy balance between work and life and would rather over-deliver than not finish something when I say I will.
In my millennial opinion…the age of CDs has come and gone. Just trust me, it makes all our lives easier! I deliver images to my clients via an online gallery. From there you can view, share, and download, as well as print high quality photos if you choose to print through me! Just a reminder that I include a Printing Rights Release with each session so you have the freedom to take them somewhere else if you’d prefer, but I have LOVED how my professional quality prints turn out compared to somewhere like Walmart or Walgreens. For weddings I also send a flash drive of the photos to the client’s home so they have a physical copy as well as the shareable link.
I prefer checks (made out to either Kira Whitney Photography or Kira Goff) or cash, but I have the capability to accept credit/debit cards for portrait sessions if necessary. I currently don’t accept cards for weddings and wedding deposits but I hope to move to an online payment option at some point.
For portrait sessions payment is expected on the day of the photo session. For weddings I require a $500 deposit with the contract at the time of booking in order to hold the date and the final payment is due no later than 3 weeks before the day of the wedding.
My best advice in this situation is to coordinate, don’t match. A good starting place is to choose one or two patterned pieces of clothing and then base the rest of the family’s outfits off the color schemes of those. Beyond that, avoid solid white as it is typically difficult to photograph well in bright sunlight. Also avoid clothing that has large, visible logos as they tend to be distracting.
Absolutely! I love to travel and there is no better way than to travel and get to do what I love. The areas beyond my Kansas City stomping grounds that I visit during a typical year are NW Arkansas, Colorado Springs, and Oklahoma City because of the amount of family and friends we have at each of those. Sometimes I will try to stack multiples sessions in a weekend to make it worth a trip and I give location updates via my email newsletter so be sure to sign up for that if you haven’t already! I am certainly up for going to other parts of the country (or internationally) especially for weddings so don’t hesitate to inquire and we will figure something out.
