Blogging about more life-related things has been a goal of mine for a long time. I post photos of other people and their lives a lot, but I want you to be able to peek into mine and get to know me! Plus this gives me an excuse to take more photos that aren’t weddings or portraits (never stop challenging yourself!).

It’s the first weekend that my husband and I have been at home in what feels like forever. We love to travel, but I have found myself wishing that we had more time to experience things here in Kansas City. So, yesterday we did just that! It was such a blast to finally visit City Market, a massive farmers market downtown/historic KC.

We were surrounded by flowers and fruits and vegetables; everything was so colorful and full of life!!

When we moved here, we had no idea what to expect, but from the lively culture, the active lifestyles, and the good people, it has really blown us away. We truly fit in here and I couldn’t be happier that we made the leap of faith and came. Now if we could just get rid of some of that traffic on 435 we’d be golden 😉

Events like this, especially ones that occur on a consistent basis, make you feel like you’re a part of something larger than yourself. Being a part of this community and getting the chance to see so many people’s hard work come together to create something was beautiful. Not to mention we got away with several bags of fruits and veggies, including giant mangos, spaghetti squash, cherries, peppers, sweet potatoes, and fresh garlic for $12! There were wonderful musicians (to whom I donated for a photo of course), families bonding, giant bubbles, and enough local support to go around. 

After our City Market wanderings, we walked across the street to Opera House Coffee and Food Emporium and fell in love! I have a feeling this will become one of our favorite spots once we are done with the Whole30 program we’re doing (30 days of gluten-free, dairy-free, grain-free, sugar-free, artificial-free eating). Being an entrepreneur myself, I have such respect for those who think outside the box and create something different that makes their business stand out. The Opera House has found a way to maximize the hours of the day and cater to all the different needs people have during them. They have a coffee bar, a small bakery area, a breakfast/lunch/dinner grill AND a bar so that everyone can find something at any point. Not to mention the stage, on which I assume they incorporate live entertainment here and there (not pictured here because I only saw it last minute and forgot to snap a photo). I would give this place 5 stars from what I saw and recommend it to anyone looking for a unique atmosphere or some good coffee.
