Terrace on Grand, Kansas City Rooftop Wedding Venue | Leia & Johnathon Chase

Leia and John Chase celebrated their wedding on a windy, September day at the Terrace on Grand in Kansas City, Missouri. It was my third time shooting there that month, but I’m not complaining because it’s one of my favorites! It shows off such a great view of our beautiful city, their staff is incredibly helpful, and the space layout is so great with everything being right there just on different floors!

These two love birds went to the same high school, but officially met freshman year of college when John Chase introduced himself to Leia after a composition class they had together.

Leia describes John Chase as charismatic, caring, and intelligent, while he describes her as loving, considerate, and responsible. They told me that their favorite date nights or things to do together is going to concerts or just dancing together in general and let me tell you… that was all too evident during their reception! I’ve photographed just over 50 weddings and I’ve NEVER seen dancing like theirs – it was amazing and they had so much fun doing it!

Thanks to all of these amazing vendors who helped make their day so perfect!

THE ENGAGEMENT STORY (according to Leia):

“It was my birthday and John Chase hung up a sign that he made that said, “Happy Birthday Leia.” As we were taking pictures in front of it, he had our friends flip the letters of the sign over and it turned out to say, “Will You Marry Me?” I was completely surprised!!

These two envisioned a lot of tears (happy tears), smiles, and love in one room for their wedding and they got just that. So much so that their guests had to practically be dragged out of the reception when the time came because they just wanted to keep on celebrating!
