Flodesk just closed that gap. In late June 2026, the email marketing platform trusted by more than 100,000 small businesses and creators released the beta of Flodesk Studio, a standalone AI design app built specifically to solve the “I know what I want to say, I just don’t know how to make it look good” problem. And it’s free to use while it’s in beta.
If you’ve ever stared at a blank email template at 11pm, trying to make your newsletter look as good as the business you’ve built, you’re not alone. Design has always been the bottleneck between having something to say and actually sending it. You know your offer, you know your audience, but turning that into a beautifully laid-out email that feels like you can eat an entire afternoon.
I’m so proud to be a Flodesk Partner and truly only share about things I use and am genuinely excited about in my own business!
Studio isn’t a new feature bolted onto the Flodesk you already know. It’s its own app, built from scratch, that lives at one simple question: what if making an email felt like describing an idea to a friend instead of fighting with a drag-and-drop builder?
Here’s the short version: you describe the email you want, and Studio designs it for you, on brand, in seconds. It draws on a library of layouts hand-crafted by professional designers, then uses AI to apply your fonts, colors, imagery, and voice to whichever layout fits what you asked for. The result is meant to look designed, not generated, because it started as real design work before AI ever touched it.

The flow is refreshingly simple:
First, you add your brand to Studio: your fonts, your color palette, your images, and some context about your business and your tone of voice. If you don’t have a brand kit ready yet, you can start from one of Studio’s built-in presets and layer your own touches on top as you go.
Next, you write a prompt describing the email you need. Think something like “help me announce our summer sale” or “write a warm welcome email for new subscribers.” Studio hands you three different directions to choose from, each built from that same designer-crafted foundation, so you’re picking a favorite rather than starting from nothing.
From there, you’re in the editor, and this is where Studio separates itself from a typical AI generator. You can keep refining by chatting with it conversationally, asking it to swap an image, shorten a paragraph, or try a punchier headline. Or you can drop into hands-on editing with blocks and controls if you want to adjust things pixel by pixel. Either way, you stay in control of the final product the whole time.

A lot of AI design tools produce something that technically works but reads as generic the moment you look closely: mismatched fonts, stock-photo energy, layouts that feel like they were assembled rather than designed. Flodesk built Studio around a different premise. Every template in the system started as genuine work from an in-house team of professional designers. AI’s job isn’t to invent the design from scratch; it’s to take that human-made foundation and adapt it instantly to your specific brand, so the output still carries the eye and instinct of an actual designer.
That distinction matters if you’ve ever been burned by a tool that promised “AI magic” and delivered something you had to redesign anyway. Studio’s pitch is that you’re not replacing the creative process, you’re clearing away the parts of it that were never the fun parts anyway: the blank canvas, the layout math, the “does this even look okay” second-guessing.
I’ve personally tried it out for several different announcements I needed to share with my audience and it is truly changing how much time I have left for the actually creative parts of my business. It’s also making me genuinely excited to sit down and build a newsletter instead of dreading it like I usually do.
You don’t need design chops to get value out of Studio. If anything, it was built for the opposite audience: small business owners, solopreneurs, coaches, podcasters, and online creators who have plenty to say but no formal design background. A quick look at what people are already making in Studio shows the range: everything from launches, to podcast episode announcements, to newsletters, to showcasing products and services, to promo emails. The templates flex across pretty much any brand voice, from playful and colorful to moody and editorial.

If you’ve been putting off starting a newsletter because the design side felt like its own part-time job, this is the tool built to remove that excuse.
For the technically curious: Studio currently runs on Claude, Anthropic’s AI model, though Flodesk has said it’s designed to evolve alongside whatever AI technology performs best over time. Studio is a separate app from core Flodesk and doesn’t touch your existing subscriber data or content unless you explicitly connect it, and anything you create in Studio belongs to you.
Email design is just the starting point. Flodesk has been clear that Studio is being built in public, shaped directly by beta feedback, with forms, landing pages, and other marketing assets planned down the line. The team has also built in an easy way to send feedback from inside the app itself, so if something’s clunky or missing, that’s by design during this phase, not an oversight.
You bring the brand and the idea; Studio bridges the gap to a finished, polished email in a fraction of the time it used to take. Whether you send through Flodesk directly or export to whatever platform you already use, the barrier between “I have something to share” and “I sent a beautiful email about it” just got a lot smaller.
It’s free to try during the beta, so if you’ve got a newsletter you’ve been meaning to launch or a promotion you’ve been putting off designing, now’s a pretty low-stakes time to give it a shot.
