My daughter, Blakely Aliya, turned one last month, and I decided her epic milestone photos needed a more permanent home than just one Instagram post. So here we are! We used my studio in downtown Colorado Springs (KINDLE Photo Studio & Event Space) for this shoot, of course.

I do a lot of milestone photos for my clients, and they almost always do little cake smashes. Still super fun, but I wanted to do something a little more unique. A giant tomahawk steak was the perfect fit for my little meat-loving girl!

I had seen this done before, but it was always with a little boy and was always barbecue themed (think cowboy hat and boots, overalls, barbecue sauce bottles in the background, etc.).

I figured it would be a fun twist to make the GIRLIEST set possible (pink flowers, white boho dress and giant bow, pink background), and add the steak to that for some juxtaposition of antithetical elements.

Naturally, I have to include some shots of my 4-year-old son, Declan, because they were too cute!
