I adore shooting at new-to-me locations and that’s exactly what Burr Oak Woods Conservation Area was for this KC metro engagement session! I had gone out a couple weeks earlier to location scout and boy am I glad I did, because it took me awhile to find this infamous spot, the conservation area is over 1000 acres after all… I actually had to stop in the Nature Center and show them a photo of what I was looking for before I realized it was barely inside the front gate!

Julie and Alix are one of those couples who are simply a joy to be around. I’ve been friends with Julie for a couple years now and can’t tell you how ecstatic I am for her that she found someone as awesome and down-to-earth as Alix to spend the rest of her life with! Possibly one of my favorite things is watching her sneaky videos when she hides from him in her house and scares him as he turns the corner… one time she even left a “come find me” note with a nerf gun for him to find when he got to her house. Their senses of humor and zest for life are truly refreshing and I am so honored to get to capture this amazing season of life for them!

Julie is a fellow 7 on the Enneagram (read all about it here if you don’t know what that is – I am a 7 with a 6 wing) so we have a lot in common when it comes to our personalities. Actually, the fact that she even likes to talk about the Enneagram so much with me makes me so happy 😀

Especially since it was the first warm session I’ve gotten to do so far this year, I had a complete blast and can’t wait for their June wedding!
