Weddings + Engagements

Upland, California Winter Wedding | Kevin & Dayna

I feel so lucky to have gotten to end my 2018 with such a bang because of this California wedding! What a treat it was to escape the cold for a bit and celebrate the beginning of Kevin & Dayna’s life together on December 1st. These two met through mutual friends who played matchmaker for them. Their friends thought they’d be good together and it turns out, they were right!

The day Kevin proposed, he used the help of her friend Kirstyn (who originally helped set them up) to distract Dayna all day. He was waiting for her at the fountain in the rose garden at Loose Park while Henry (the other friend who initially set them up) played her favorite song on the guitar. It was a complete surprise! Then he surprised her again with a romantic dinner and Again with a surprise engagement party. My husband, Preston, actually captured photos of the proposal since he is friends with Kevin and then did the videography for the wedding (check out the incredible recap video here).

Thanks to the other amazing vendors who helped make their big day a success!

Venue: First Presbyterian Church, Upland, CA

Kevin is an intellectual – he loves learning and talking about what he learns. He is amazingly patient, super laid back, and a great listener. He has all the qualities to make an incredible pastor and he lives into his calling. According to Kevin, Dayna is the perfect person you need in order to be yourself. She loves to laugh, learn, ask questions, and talk about coffee. She is a very loving person, and she cares about other people’s feelings. His favorite thing about her is her empathy. Her favorite thing about him is how laid back and fun he is!

Dayna’s dad sang an original song for the couple after he walked Dayna down the aisle, and then her sister sang her another during her Maid of Honor speech at the reception! I love the personal spins that each bride, groom, and family brings to the wedding day.

When I asked Kevin and Dayna what they envisioned for their wedding day, they said, “a party!”. They wanted their wedding to be a fun celebration of their love, and hoped that it would be as stress-free as possible, which tells you a lot about their personalities and how they choose to not make a big deal about the small stuff. That’s precisely why they were so wonderful to work with!
